When you are in social media, the main challenge is to be consistent. Your post should be related  in some way to the business or your personal branding., It should have a purpose!

To be honest, I admit that I struggle with this on my own Instagram account. Being consistent is the KEY.

Most of you for sure have already a lot of ideas of what sort of image or content you should post. However, I'm here to give you some kind of a tips of what to post on Instagram.

1. Image with style.

Yes. You read it right! Instagram like Pinterest are more on Photos, so aside from the selfies that you posted. You can try new things like using grids, flat lay, etc. to represent your personal brand or products which that kind of composition.

2. A weekly series.

If you will notice, most of the brands nowadays are using the power of series like tele-drama and using the concept of throwbackthursday, motivationmonday, flashbackfriday, etc. on their feed to get more like and comments. Doing this will help you in making your concept or theme for a specific day.

3. Recommend Something.

Sharing a post, product review or simply an information you just heard or got from others can adds value to a post but allows your audience to discover more about you. Make sure that what you walk the talk.

4. Engage by shouting out.

Instagram like other social media site are created to have a network. That way it is best to use its one third of of its time in promoting a business while the two thirds should be more about sharing. How? By engaging with your followers or celebrating others. Let's say, you attended a webinar and learned something that you thought of sharing it to others because it may be valuable to them or perhaps posting about people who motivates and inspires you.

5. A call to action.

Sometimes we need to instruct our followers to give us a direct response. You can ask them a question, requesting them to visit a link, or have them their feedbacks. You can create also a contest or challenge that they can participate and by using a hashtags. Don't be shy to give them instructions to create a more engagement.

Most of the marketers, today increased their usage of Instagram as their visual content. However, other brands are having a hard time in creating attracting Instagram profile and high quality of visual content for their account.

Here are some marketing trends for your business to get the most effect for your Instagram profile even you don't have many followers.

Use Hashtags

Influencing branded hashtags to employ their company on social media. This should not only hashtagging the company name instead make an overall brand. It's like keywording in SEO, you have to create a keyword or phrases that relate to your product, campaign, and company.

Behavioral Content

Sharing your lifestyle content in your Instagram that represents your brand is another way to market even without posting product shots.  Monitoring your followers to know what kind of content they like to share is an effective way to market your brand. So that they can relate to you.

Connect with Influencers

All Instagrammers are looking forward to increasing their followers. One of the easiest way is by connecting to influencers. Although, there are big companies who are paying to partner with influencers to get a huge amount of followers. However, by exchanging your products for giving out something to them or small token will help you to get exposure.

Before you partner, take time os study the influencers profile if they are fit for your company because not all influencers will like your product and it doesn't mean they can create an attracting content for you.

Upon Twitter’s plunge in the internet, people started questioning the efficiency of posting significant information especially for business with only 140 characters to use. However, eventually, Twitter underwent huge improvements and added some features that benefit businesses, which led to becoming one of the most impressive and excellent social media platforms for businesses.

Suddenly, businesses had an epiphany on Twitter’s 140 characters and swamped the site in big numbers. Consequently, this soaring growth in Tweetosphere paved the way for a great need of implementing a set of conventional rules, principles, and guidelines on the scope and limitations of what businesses could carry out in Twitter.

In an interesting manner, many social media specialists usually talk about the things that can be done on Twitter, but they forgot to focus also on the relevant things that shouldn’t be done on Twitter. Gladly, I am going share the things that you must avoid doing on Twitter.

• Too Much Tweeting or Re-Tweeting – I discovered that some businesses are
guilty of over-tweeting/re-tweeting. They tweet excessively and what’s worse is that their tweets are repetitious. This is really bothersome to find that the same tweets are appearing in my feed every night before I sleep and they come out again the next morning. The intention is to be wise on the frequency of tweets and the content of tweets.

• Follow Everybody with an Account – Sometimes, businesses forget the very
important fact that Twitter is an efficient tool for their business IF they know
who their target audiences are. You follow people with hopes to follow you back and gain additional followers- it doesn’t work that way, and it won’t help your business. Instead, purposefully follow the ones who would associate with your business. Moreover, keep in mind that automatic follows (auto follow) can only give you additional number of followers but it cannot guarantee the quality which is why you should make certain that you consider your choices prior to turning the follow button on.

• Blackguarding – Employing foul, obscene, or offensive tweets can only get your business in the worst scenario. You must keep your self-regard on
Twitter. Always be attentive of the language you use and respect everyone.
Keep in mind that you are dealing with human beings who can feel so it is very essential to avoid hurting their sentiments. The golden rule here – “tweet others the way you would like to be tweeted”.

• Incomplete or Imprecise Profile – Most users do not follow Twitter accounts
whose profiles have not been completed or who give dis-informing information on their profiles. Majority of users only get associated with real businesses which are guileless when it comes to their practice. Be sure to put in your profile all the necessary information and never provide any incorrect details.

• Jactitation – Whereas Twitter is a tool for the promotion of businesses as
well as its related products, it is not advisable to tweet blatant sales talk to be recognized and patronized. Do not praise and boast yourself or your business excessively. Practice a balanced approach at all times.

• Personal Conversations – Refrain from having any kind of personal
conversations on Twitter if you are a business person. There is no point in living them futile information overload as they are not most likely to get interested about it anyway.

• Tweeting Rarely – As it is important to avoid excessive tweeting, it is also
equally relevant to avoid posting once in a blue moon. Make sure that you tweet frequent enough as long as you make sure that you have quality information to share. This will help secure your followers’ interest in being associated with you.

Avoiding these practices in Twitter would not only create a more harmonious
environment within the micro-blogging sphere, but would also help your business attain a more professional recognition among your followers.

With the advent and boom of social media, business enterprises also saw it as an opportunity to establish brand awareness and connect with their customers on a personal level. Today, businesses are utilizing social media to engage with their clients like never before. But with thousands to millions of messages sent every single day, how business could manage all their social media accounts effectively?

That’s why HootSuite can come very handy. Instead of opening each social media account, sharing passwords, and spending countless of hours tracking individual social media effort and activity, HootSuite allows you to effectively and conveniently manage, collaborate, and execute social media campaigns across different platforms from a SINGLE and SECURED web-based dashboard.

To help you get familiar with this awesome social media management tool, here’s a quick rundown.

Setting Up Your Dashboard

  • Adding Social Networks – As mentioned earlier, the big question here is how do you seamlessly manage all your social media profiles effectively? Well, the answer is provided by HootSuite as it can help you import your social media profiles and access all of them from a neat-looking and centralized dashboard. If you want to add a social media account, simply go to the “Streams” section, then click “Add Social Network”, select what type of account you’d like to add, and then simply put your username-password combination and you’re all set.

In addition, you don’t have to connect that profile again in the future. What’s more interesting is that you can actually add multiple social media profiles (same social media network) to your dashboard! This can be very beneficial if you are concentrating on a single social media platform like for instance, Twitter campaign only.

  • Adding Tabs – In HootSuite, the easiest way to organize all your accounts is by using tabs. As much as possible, think of your dashboard as a filing cabinet where each tab is your file folder. The good thing about tabs is that you can also use them to group and organize social media content you want to manage or monitor. This implies that tabs are not restricted for managing social media accounts only.

There are many ways to organize your tabs. By default, your social media networks are organized as tabs but you can fully customize them whenever you desire. For instance if you are a social media agency, you can designate tabs as your clients so you would know exactly what is going on with their social media accounts. Given this feature, you can also assign tabs to monitor what your competitors are up to.

To create/add a new tab, simply click the “+” button at the end of your tabs list and type in your desired name for that tab. In order to remain organized, you can edit or rename the tab by simply double clicking it. In addition, you can drag and move them if you want to group them with others. Needless to say, tabs give you the power to manage and organize all your accounts and content in a very convenient way.

  • Adding Streams – Apart from monitoring accounts and activities, how do you streamline the information flow of your networks? Use streams to organize and monitor the incoming content! Actually, streams will maximize your ability to monitor in HootSuite.

Simple click the “Add a Stream” button in your dashboard, choose your desired social media platform, and select your profile. In a single tab or profile, you can add up to 10 streams such as (for Twitter) Home Feeds, Sent Tweets, Mentions, etc. What’s good in HootSuite is that you can have multiple social media profile stream under a single tab! On top of that, you can customize these streams in a way that is optimal for you.

  • Navigating Your User Profile – If you want to change any information in your profile, or you have changed your social media network password and need to re-authenticate with HootSuite again, or you want to add a team member, just work around your “Member Overview” page as this is your central hub. In this page, you can view/edit your profile, the organization you belong to, as well as all the social networks you own.

  • Exploring HootSuite Organization – If your business organization is expanding or you are already a member of a large company, you are most likely to collaborate with other people internally to accomplish social media goals. In HootSuite Organization, you can add people, assign them into teams, and even customize their access levels. In addition, you can easily see and manage all your created teams/departments, their team members, as well as social profiles.

HootSuite is a preferred and certified partner of prominent social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and LinkedIn. Because of its amazing, convenient, and customizable features, HootSuite is the most used social relationship platform today. Since 2008, HootSuite recorded an increasing user database of more than 9 million in over 175 countries worldwide. Needless to say, HootSuite is best social media management tool in the market to date, and if you want to make the most of this tool, working around your way in dashboard is definitely a good head start.

6: Capitalize Social Advertising

If you are yearning for a boosted social media performance, you could always check out paid advertising options.

Facebook offers heaps of advertising solutions to help businesses earn more brand exposure, website traffic, audience engagement, and ultimately, sales.

If Twitter is your main social media channel, you have to choose from two advertising solutions, namely: promoted accounts and promoted content. The former helps you increase the magnitude of your Twitter following, while the latter helps your content stand out and to serve your content to tailored audiences.

In LinkedIn, you can utilize the “sponsored updates” feature or you can purchase advertising to boost the visibility of your brand.

Even though your budget is small, you should not miss the opportunity and benefits of using social advertising. Always keep in mind that it can yield great results if used tactically.

7: Measure and Analyze Results

This is the last yet the most crucial step.

It is important to track your performance data to recognize which strategies are working and which are not. Furthermore, don’t also miss seeing your development, participation, and sharing.

The good thing is that most social networks today have tools to track and assess your performance.

For your blog and website, Google Analytics is a handy tool to monitor traffic and interactions. With this tool, you can know which social media platforms are actually driving the most traffic into your website.

Tips to having a great social media plan:

  • Regularly review your metric reports (preferably at least once a week)
  • Evaluate the big picture (quarterly)
  • Make the necessary adjustments for anything that doesn’t yield satisfactory results.

When utilizing different social media channels for your startup or small business, the most significant thing to keep in mind is that social media, as a whole, is a long and arduous undertaking.

Use this social media guide as your reference in starting your own social marketing efforts. Clearly define your target audience first, and select the best platform to reach them. 3: Start Humbly

After determining your target audience, knowing where to effectively reach them, and optimizing your website for your social media channels, it is time for you to get social.

Keep in mind: get started today, but start humbly!

Social media necessitates a lot of time energy, which for small businesses, are valuable resources. So, always start with a doable load. As much as possible, choose a single or two social media channels to start with.

The best way to ensure consistency is to integrate social media tasks into your everyday routine. Make sure to dedicate sufficient time to reasonably deal with your social media accounts. As much as possible, update or manage them twice a day.

In your first two months, spend a minimum of 15 to 30 minutes a day on social activities. However, you can always increase the time whenever you see fit.

When sharing content, use your customer profiles to find out what information is relevant to your target customers who use that particular social network. For instance, your shared information in Twitter must be different from LinkedIn.

The key objective of your content is to help a specific group of readers. Give them easy-to-follow and valuable tips, or share information that can help them unravel a problem. Over time, people (or your followers) will view you as an expert and thought-leader in your industry.

4: Pay Attention and Be Involved

Conversations in social media are taking place all around in real time.

Hence, “social listening” is actually a very good maneuver to keep an eye on people’s thoughts about your business. Pay attention to and respond to comments even they’re negative.

Content is the most important thing in social marketing. Regrettably, searching the internet for good content that are worthy of sharing can be really time-consuming. To avoid getting stuck along the way, arrange a process where you can organize and combine quality content that gives value to your audience. If your schedule permits you, add the content to your editorial calendar so you can instantly share it when you are ready.

5: Have a Daily Plan

Once you have a stable stream of content in your pipeline, you are set to post and participate in social media.

Create a list of activities you plan to carry out every day. For instance, tweet and retweet 2-4 times on Twitter, comment on five different Facebook pages, or pin/re-pin around 5 images in Pinterest every day. If you are using LinkedIn, you could share a link and like other user’s links.

Once these daily activities are included in your “comfort zone”, then you can advance your efforts by joining groups and communities in order to direct specific demographics. Start and engage in conversations by throwing thought-provoking questions and/or posting comments to other people’s posts.

In addition, always welcome your new followers and don’t forget to thank those who share your content voluntarily.

Most importantly, be deliberate about your daily social activities. Contrary to popular belief, success is not about chance; rather, it is mainly about tactics and strategy.

Check out the steps six to seven on how to make social media marketing work for your small business: a beginners guide part 3.

Are you ready to get in touch with a broader audience?

Do you want to be acquainted with the best ways to control social media for your small business?

If your answer is YES to both of these questions, then thoroughly browse this article as it will show you the first two steps on how to make social media marketing work for your small business.

Why Use Social Media?

As an owner of a startup or small business, you know by now that there’s a lot of stuff that need to be done with only limited resources.

Although conventional marketing still works today, it will absolutely drain your monetary funds.

On the other hand, social media marketing is reasonably low-cost, and provides you a straight and easy access to your existing and prospective customers. Though, there’s a trade-off because what you save in money, you will invest in time.

Needless to say, you need to be extra smart in handling these resources if you truly want to obtain the results you desire given your limited resources.

This step-by-step guide is for new and small business owners with a handful of resources, but who want to start and work up their brand using social media.

1: Do Your Assignment

Always keep in mind that behind every successful social media campaign, there’s a prudent strategy.

Social media is about connecting with your audience on a more personal level. In order to do this, you have to understand your existing and prospective customers very well.

You can start by clearly defining your target audience. Categorize and profile your customers by gender, age, profession, interests, etc. Write down all these details and attach the most suitable images that represent them.

Next, straighten out your message. Determine the “pain points” that each of your customer profile is experiencing. After this, create your message based on their concerns and key problems, and then position your business as the one that can provide solutions.

Now that you’ve determined your audience and crafted your brand message to them, the next thing you should do is to discover which social networks they prefer.

All social networking platforms are not created equal. Each of them has their own primary audience, pace, and emphasis. It is very important to understand these differences so you could spend your resources on the right platforms.

2: Organize Your Social Media Channels

Your success will be limited if you regard social media channels as not connected with each other. Therefore, all your chosen network should work closely together to facilitate goal achievement.

Because of the fact that your website is the home base of your brand, it would be heady to organize all your social media efforts to push people into your website where they browse your offered service or product.

Apart from different social networks, you could also utilize your blog to share industry-related information using your brand’s voice. Blogs are also a great means to engage with your website visitors, and subsequently lead them into your sales funnel.

You can optimize your blog and your website for social media by adding few design elements such as social media icons. Just make sure that they are visible enough and are working properly. Surely, you don’t want your visitors get irritated just because they aren’t redirected to your social media profiles after clicking the icons.

Moreover, include call-to-actions (CTAs) in your blog posts and don’t forget to ask your readers to follow, subscribe, or like your social media profiles if they’ve found your content valuable and worthy of reading. In addition, make certain that all your content are share-friendly so your readers can easily spread the good word about your business.

Check out the steps three to five on how to make social media marketing work for your small business: a beginners guide part 2.

Every new year we all have a what we called new year's resolution. We may be planning to lose weight and eat more healthy food, we even tried to change our lifestyle for the year ahead.

As we all know more people are hook into social networking sites. We even check it when we wake up and after almost a day of logging from it until we sleep.

Now, what you think you can change as we moved this 2014 for your social media resolutions. Below are some tips that you can do to change the way you act online.

1. Humblebragging

May this humblebraggin ends or should I say may rest in peace for this year. You know what I mean.

2. Foodporning

Stop foodporning. We all know that people eat at all time, 3 times a day or more. Set a benchmark for this and stick to it. If the food that you are eating is really rare and unique then that's the time you post it.

3. Know Your Privacy

Manage your privacy setting. Pick things you can share publicly. Learn to know-how.

4. Posting Selfies

It was declared that the year of 2013  was the "The year of selfie". I suggest that this year will be diffirent one.

5. Create Positivity

Posting positive can help someone to change their mood or even life. Expressing what's on your mind with less annoyances is really great.

Sometimes giving misinformation from major event are reportedly and first seen on social media sites. I think before we make a retweet or share it, we should double check the information because it can be frightening and dangerous. Also, always be kind when taking comments on a photo or status by someone and if you have nothing good to say, just ignore it and increase kindness online.

If you have your own suggestions, you can comment them below.

One of our dilemmas as Internet user is when our connection got lost and one of our favorite things to do online is to watch videos that will keep us being entertained.  It's so hassle especially when we are on the middle of our
watching, and the Internet connection
becomes unavailable.

Fret no more because the YouTube's  as one of the top videos sharing sites will now allow users to store the videos temporarily for viewing offline in their latest update to their mobile app.

So you can now enjoy YouTube videos longer without interrupted and as a part
of their ongoing updates to enjoy videos and channels in YouTube mobile.

I can't wait for it to happen, but the YouTube Team said in their post in their
blog entitled Heads up about an upcoming YouTube mobile feature, that this will
launch probably by November.

Facebook is now allowing up to 50 users to contribute in one album. This is another great feature that Facebook has recently offered. Every user can add up to 200 photos that can contain as many as 10,000 images in one album. Before users only have 1000 photos that they can add to their own album.

Bob Baldwin, Facebook Software Engineer says,  “Right now, if you were at a party and there were three different albums created, you might not be able to see all the photos [based on privacy settings], which is kind of confusing and frustrating.”

This new feature can also be use in boosting  engagement in Facebook Groups while preserving memories of group events.

Although this new feature of Facebook is very alike to Google+'s party mode. The privacy settings are of course one of the concerned. That is why you can opt to make these shared albums visible to the public, contributors only, or even with friends of contributors.

It's already started with few numbers of users, and it will be expanded to all English users before they roll it out internationally.

Even current United States President Barrack Obama has utilized Twitter during the Presidential Election and has almost 200,000 followers.

It is obvious that the role of social media on the internet has been very appealing to everyone and every business. Our President, an established beverage company and mobile manufacturers have made good use of social media to promote their products and services.

As of today more and more marketers are using social media to inform customers about what their business stand for and what their products and services are. It gives marketer an identity. It makes advertisers and their businesses real to consumers.
