With the goal of providing a Bigger & Better Christmas for all, LG combined Filipinos’ love for the holidays with the brand’s mission of always giving back to the community. In a media launch event recently held in One Canvas Events Place in Pasong Tamo, Makati, LG Philippines outlined the various initiatives they have lined up for the holiday season.

The event started off with LGEPH Product Marketing Manager Angelica Dumlao discussing the Evolution of Picture Quality and how LG has taken great strides in pushing for technological innovation. “We can see the advancement and the evolutionary journey of how TV resolution and picture quality have improved in the last 20 years. The evolution from analog to digital television technology was a slow process, and it wasn’t even until the mid-1990s that HDTV broadcasting began. At that time, most HDTVs were plasma TVs, which were expensive, so HDTV adoption was slow. By the mid-2000s however, affordable 40-inch LCDs started to be sold. By the end of the decade, LCDs were outselling traditional (CRT) TVs as well as plasma TVs. Post HDTVs, companies started looking for newer technologies that could be offered to consumers. The last few years saw the arrival of curved screens, high dynamic range (HDR), smart TVs, OLED TVs, and 4K.

Now with the hyper realistic detail and picture quality of 8K available to consumers.” She goes on to add “For us in LG, Life’s about more than having the latest technology. It’s about the experiences technology creates. We are a pacesetter in the industry and we will continue to deliver consumer electronics that let you embrace life and prepare you for its greatest moments.”
Pushing forward with the holiday theme, the first gift that LG has for the community comes in the form of its partnership with Netflix. During the event, Netflix unveiled the streaming service’s holiday film headliner, Klaus. The trailer for the destined Christmas classic, together with its behind the scenes footage, were all screened with the use of LG’s award-winning OLED TVs, the purchase of which comes with an accompanying gift of 6 months of Netflix.

Klaus, the headliner for Netflix’s holiday lineup, is an entirely 2D animated movie, a Netflix first, that harkens to the old Christmas shows we’ve come to know and love. Legendary actor J. K. Simmons provides the voice for the titular Klaus, a reclusive carpenter whom Jesper discovers living alone in a cabin, where he makes his own handmade toys. Like the movies of yore, Netflix hopes that Klaus becomes a Christmas tradition that’s destined to be replayed every holiday season for the years to come. LG also invited the Animation Council of the Philippines, Inc. (ACPI) to share their thoughts on the use of 2D animation in Klaus, how LG OLED TVs are the best platform to view it on, as well as to discuss the state of the local animation industry as a whole.

As an early Christmas present for the organization, LG Philippines donated LG TV. Inkwun Heo, LG Philippines’ Managing Director, recognized the importance of the ACPI’s role in the local industry and how their influence shapes the evolution of picture quality. “With LG, we guarantee an unparalleled, memorable cinematic viewing experience. Through non-stop innovation, LG has been able to offer the best that technology has to offer, be it through our NanoCell or OLED TVs, or with the use of our ThinQ Artificial Intelligence. We want content creators such as ACP to have access to this technology so that they can pay it forward and share it with the community through their art.

Marlyn Montano, Vice President of the ACPI, graciously accepted the TV donation from LG. “Working in the animation industry, innovations in technology are important to us. To be able to compete with other animators from around the world, we need to be at the top. LG’s AI-optimized picture quality that boasts leading clarity, sharpness, detail and brightness is as advanced as you can get. This really helps us in harnessing the best of our abilities.”

Another gift that LG has for the community during the holidays is the #ShareTheGoodLifewithLG campaign. As a way of giving back to the community, LG Philippines has dedicated a portion of each sale of an LG product to go towards furnishing the children of Shelter of Hope. More than that, LG has committed to donate home entertainment and home appliances worth more than Php 1Million. Shelter of Hope is currently building a new home for their resident children who are cancer patients and these gifts will provide much needed Christmas cheer. During the event, LG, Netflix, and the members of the media, in the spirit of Klaus, also brought gifts and toys to give to the children of Shelter of Hope. Just like what Klaus says, “A true selfless act, always sparks another.”

Towards the end of the event, long-time LG brand ambassador James Deakin enumerated the eight reasons why one should buy the award-winning OLED TVs, either as a holiday gift or even for oneself.Firstly, it’s the World's Best Selling OLED TV Brand for 6 consecutive years. Global sales and shipments prove that LG is, once again, the world’s best-selling brand for OLED TVs.Second, LG’s ThinQ technology represents the evolution of TVs. Third, AI Picture, AI Sound, and AI Smart uses he most powerful 4K processor to optimize clarity, sharpness, sound. The light sensor detects ambient light and the AI automatically optimizes brightness in the image to keep a bright and sharp picture regardless of illuminance. With AI Sound, Get the best sound no matter how you have arranged your room and where you are sitting. With the technology recognizing your watching spot, you can fully enjoy the optimized sound. Fourth, It has an IPS Panel for wide viewing angle - Wherever you sit, the IPS 4K panel’s wide viewing angle keeps you enthralled with spectacular realism—displaying almost 100% color accuracy, even from a 60-degree angle. Fifth, it has Dolby Atmos, providing 360-degree surround sound. Smart appliances have been in the market for a couple of years now, but have they truly lived up to their name? While TVs, speakers, refrigerators, and other home appliances offer a slew of connectivity options, they have to bring something new to the table, otherwise it’s just more of the same. LG Philippines wants to let their products do the talking.

LG’s vision of a truly smart home is powered by its proprietary ThinQ AI technology. “LG ThinQ uses knowledge drawn from data analytics and machine learning algorithms to understand the user’s patterns and preferences,” said Inkwun Heo, Managing Director for LG Philippines. “As it adapts and learns from the user’s behavior, LG ThinQ products will ultimately evolve to anticipate the user’s needs and deliver heightened performance.”

All of LG’s newest products have been engineered with the future in mind. Each one is powered by the AI ThinQ technology so that the difference home appliances can communicate with each other to actually offer an indispensable and genuinely helpful system. Artificial Intelligence however, is but just one feature.
To showcase how the new smart devices seamlessly blend with everyday life, LG commissioned new brand ambassadors who come from different backgrounds, proving without a doubt how these appliances are made for everyone.

Steph Zubiri-Crespi, a long time LG loyalist, boasts how the Twin Wash saves her precious time by being able to do two loads simultaneously. She recounted an instance where the “pause” and “add item” function was a lifesaver. Cristalle Belo-Pitt on the other hand, absolutely adores the LG Instaview Door-in-Door refrigerator. Simply knock twice on the sleek glass panel to illuminate the contents inside without opening the door, reducing cold air loss to help keep food fresher longer. Its modern French door design is an entertainer’s delight with storage options such as the Extra Space compartment for your small or loose items, and a retractable shelf for your taller and oddly-shaped items.

Marco Gumabao raves about the LG Black Two Door Top Freezer he’s been using as it offers a blend of timeless style with the latest innovations, maximum storage space, advanced digital temperature controls, and exclusive LG technology. While Benj Alves on the other hand, is nostalgic about using the LG Black Turbo Wash 3D as he was used to do everything all by himself, laundry included back when he lived in Guam.

LG’s new smart devices are also perfect for families. Dani Barretto-Panlilio loves the Stacking Washer/Dryer Front Load since it makes sure all of her clothes are clean and safe for her newborn baby. “Everything’s really easier with LG. Another thing is thanks to the use of steam, I’m confident that dustmites, bacteria, or allergens will not get to my baby.”

LJ Moreno-Alapag has been juggling 3 kids and household duties so the LG Two Door Top Freezer has been a tremendous help. Thanks to the Multi-Air Flow System, superior humidity and temperature levels are maintained, keeping your food fresher, longer. Digital sensors constantly monitor conditions within the refrigerator and strategically-placed vents in every section to help surround your food with cool air no matter where you put it.

As far as reliability with Commercial Refs are concerned, funnyman Michael V is all business. To safeguard your investment, all of these refrigerators have a 10-year warranty for its Inverter Linear Compressor and the Smart Inverter Compressor, as well as a 2-year warranty for parts & service courtesy of LG.

As the leader in the HVAC industry, LG Electronics (LG) recently held a press conference at Solaire to formally introduce the brand-new 2020 line up for single commercial air conditioners (CAC).

Air-conditioning is integral to everyday life in the Philippines, owing to the tropical climate that can get blazing hot at times. However, according to the Global Competitiveness Report by the World Economic Forum (WEF), electricity in the Philippines ranks a lowly 92nd globally, meaning the price of electricity is very high. This makes air-conditioning not feasible for some households due to the costs involved. Recognizing this issue, LG, by applying innovative technology, has achieved a high-efficiency and cost-effective solution in the brand-new line up for single CAC.

LG’s brand-new line up for single CAC, which are perfect for restaurants, small and medium-sized stores, and small and medium-sized offices, include the Floor Standing, the Ceiling Mounted Cassette, the 1 Way Ceiling Cassette, the Ceiling Suspended, and the Ceiling Concealed Duct. To attain high-efficiency and cost-effectiveness, the products are rigged with LG’s revolutionary R1 CompressorTM and Smart Inverter.

The compressor used in the new line up is an LG-exclusive R1 Compressor with a shaft-through bottom compression structure. With its innovative technology, the R1 Compressor has resolved the endemic problem of a relatively low efficiency in the widely used rotary compressor and improves the tiling motion of scroll. By virtue of the compressor, it lowers the noise to 4dB and reduces its weight by 20%.

In comparison to other companies’ line up for single CAC, which is operated with a non-inverter compressor, all of LG’s CAC is operated with the inverters. With the LG Smart Inverter, the annual price of electricity is expected to decline by 25% compared to an on/off model. Likewise, users can receive quick return on investment within 20 months by virtue of energy savings. Moreover, it enables air flow to cool in a long distance. Since the Floor Standing unit can reach up to 20 meters, it makes it possible to cool a room even though it is far from the unit. Furthermore, a five-step air cleaning feature reduces maintenance costs and makes upkeep simple and fuss-free. In terms of performance, it has a wide operation range as low as -15°C and as high as 48°C outdoor temperature.

After announcing the brand-new line up for single CAC, LG also introduced the Dual Vane Cassette, an upgraded version of the 4 Way Ceiling Cassette, and the Round Cassette which raised expectations and set the bar high. These products will be launched in the second quarter of 2020 after launching single CAC.

The conventional 4 Way Ceiling Cassette is equipped with four vanes, so it used to offer air flow in four ways. However, LG also introduced the Dual Vane Cassette which is equipped with innovative dual vane technology. Since the Dual Vane Cassette has eight vanes, it manages air flow more precisely and provides optimized air flow for users. Also, the Dual Vane Cassette allows users to choose six different modes, including three patented ones. Thus, it offers the best air flow over various spaces.

With a premium round design, the Round Cassette provides perfect circular air flow without any blind spot by minimizing junctions whereas a conventional round cassette has three outlets to provide three-way air flow with blind spots. In addition to that, unlike other brands’ round cassettes which controls wind direction in three steps, LG’s Round Cassette is equipped with crystal vanes, enabling the user to control the direction in six steps. Moreover, the 3D fan increases air flow rate by 5% while lowering noise. With a larger air flow rate, cooling rate becomes 30% faster.

“Last year, sales of LG Electronics in the Philippines have grown significantly and HVAC business was an important part of it,” said Inkwun Heo, Managing Director of LG Electronics in the Philippines. “LG’s HVAC Division will continue to develop the world’s best HVAC for contributing to conserve the environment as well as creating better living conditions for everyone.”

Traditionally, people have associated chores as ‘women’s tasks.’

With significant progress in the fight for equality, gender roles at home, and in other facets of society, have evolved to a point where performing household chores are no longer automatically expected of or assigned mostly to women.

There is, however, still plenty of room for further development. In 2017, one study found that “women tend to do more housework than their male partners, irrespective of their age, income or own workloads.” The results reinforced the fact that “broader social norms” affect the way gender roles, and their duration, are assigned.

As women continue to negotiate and redefine their responsibilities at home, technology plays a critical role in empowering women to reclaim their autonomy.
Smart home technologies—a niche dominated by LG—make chores easier to accomplish, even pleasant, thus freeing up more time and energy for other pursuits.

It also helps level the playing field. With user-friendly and intuitive appliances like the TwinWash and the InstaView Door-in-Door, no task or chore is too complex or too hard.

Anyone in the family can efficiently do the laundry or do a quick audit of grocery items that need to be replenished. Smart appliances help ease the burden of women who are often expected to take charge of these tasks just because it has been the norm. After all, chores know no gender.

As the world celebrates International Women’s Day, women, and allies, all over the world recognize the milestones that have empowered women to break free from stereotypes and societal expectations. LG, a renowned brand with a global platform, reinforces its commitment to women empowerment by ensuring that its smart home technologies are attuned to the constantly changing and dynamic needs of both women and men who use them.
