Are you familiar with the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL)?

Well, most Filipinos don’t know about it and did not care to register their inventions or property created that they own. Today, the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines is having a new vision of an Intellectual Property-conscious Philippines in a demystified, development-oriented and democratized intellectual property (IP) system by 2020.

Aside from the registration of IP assets, the Office seeks to develop the three facets of the IP system: economic, technological, and socio-cultural to encourage innovation, and respect for IP.

Participating local bloggers were welcomed by IPOPHL Officer-in-Charge Atty. Allan Gepty and were given an overview of the basic orientation on patents, trademarks, and copyright. The said lectures were conducted by Mr. Leo Losantas, Engr. Amellita Amon, Mr. Marlo Carag, and Atty. Louie Calvario, respectively.

The First Bloggers’ Conference on IP was organized by IPOPHL to reach out to netizens.  IPOPHL hopes to collaborate with the bloggers in increasing IP awareness of the general public.
