The art of gift-giving is a tough skill to master. If properly done, a gift becomes a wish for someone’s happiness. A poorly chosen gift, however, can distort the good intention and may leave the recipient disappointed. Gifting can be frustrating but when executed with the right amount of perceptiveness and a pinch of creativity, it’s sure to be a rewarding and meaningful experience for both the giver and the receiver.

The two big questions we face when picking a gift are always what to give and how much to spend. A thoughtful present need not be expensive or extravagant. Sweet treats that you can make using a microwave oven are a convenient and fail-proof way to make someone’s day without breaking the bank.

Surprise a loved one with gooey chocolate cookies! Just combine and mix all ingredients in a lightly greased or nonstick microwave-safe tray. After setting the microwave on high for 4-5 minutes, let cool and enjoy!

Let your friends know how much you appreciate their personality and uniqueness by baking them a mug cake. You can get creative with the ingredients and most importantly, it will just take you minutes to prepare it using a microwave oven! With strawberries or peanuts, mug cakes are a sure way to make someone feel appreciated and cared for.

Who doesn’t love s’mores? Touch someone’s heart by spoiling their sweet tooth with s’mores. On a paper towel, place a piece of Graham cracker with marshmallow on top. Have another piece of Graham cracker with cold chocolate on a separate paper towel. Heat in the microwave oven for 5 seconds until the marshmallow expands.

Midea, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of appliances, offers Microwave Ovens that are perfect partners in giving simple but creative tokens of gratitude. Designed to save time and energy, Midea Microwave Ovens use less electricity so heating food in 3 minutes only costs a peso.

The Meralco's One Child, One Lamp Campaign is part of the annual Maliwanag ang Pasko tradition of the Manila Electric Company (MERALCO). It was once again opened the Liwanag Park to the public with a lighting ceremony held last December 2, 2015 at the company's headquarters in Ortigas, Pasig City.

The whole compund was literally lit up on the cue of Meralco Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan to gether with Meralco executives when they pushed the button signalling the opening of the park.

Also, the Department of Education Secretary Bro. Armin Luistro was there to graced the lighting ceremony and receiving the donation of 2,000  solar lamps from Meralco employees, partners, and customers as the result of One Meralco Foundation's campaign for One Child, One Lamp, who has been launched last November to raise a funds to donate solar lamps to public schools in the mountains and island villages without electricity.

Public officials and community leaders from different municipalities of Meralco franchise area were also present during the ceremony. Earlier they  received recognition from One Meralco Foundation for their contribution to the foundation's Household Electrification Program that brings electricity to low income families within the Meralco business area.

Meanwhile, the opening of Liwanag Park was very impressive because of different features that Filipinos will surely love. Christmas figures and a gigantic tableau of Nativity scene made entirely of scrap copper wires was truly amazing. Visitors can ride on the miniature train, reminiscent of the days when rail operations were a part of the company's vast portfolio of business. The train's tracks circle a giant Christmas tree which is decorated with lanterns crafted from old electric meter covers and LED lights. It was ended with a fabulous fireworks display.

The park has also have a night bazaar where visitors can go shopping. Proceeds of the bazaar will go to One Meralco Foundation's One Child, One Lamp campaign.

The Meralco Liwanag Park is open everyday from 4:00pm to 10:00pm until January 10, 2016.
